I've been practicing Okinawan Shorin Ryu karate for a long time – over 33 years. I hold a sixth degree black belt (dan) from the Shobayashi branch of this system, which we teach at the Okinawan Karate Club of Dallas (a club I co-founded in 1984 with head instructor Ilene Smoger). I'm also a 2nd dan in the Kobayashi branch as taught by Hanshi Seikichi Iha, and a 4th dan in Shudokan karate.
For more information about us, check out the OKCD instructor's page.
It's long been a part of my life, and if it weren't for the experience of getting out in front of a class once or twice a week for all these years I'd never have been able to become a comfortable public speaker!
